Marina Kazakova (b. Gorky, Russia, 1983) is a Russian-born Belgium-based poet. Her literature works deal to a large degree with confrontation with the past and explore the challenges posed both by memory and grief. Published internationally in magazines and journals (Three Rooms Press “Maintenant”, “great weather for MEDIA”, “Crannog”, “Duck Lake Books”, “Writing in a Woman’s Voice”, “Modern Literature”), Marina is a frequent performer, she has been shortlisted at various international poetry festivals and art events: Brussels Poetry Festival 2017-2018; Maintenant’s Dada London Invasion 2018; XpoNorth 2018, Inverness, Scotland; Antwerpen Queer Arts Festival 2019, Belgium; Nothing To Sell 2019, Macro Asilo, Rome, Italy; RE:Sponse 2020, Groningen, The Netherlands; Maintenant’s Dada Invasion 2020, online, New York, USA; Stanza Scotland’s Poetry Festival 2021, online, Edinburg, Scotland; Mani Lit Fest 2021, Mani, Greece; The 34th Gerard Manley Hopkins International Literary Festival 2022, Newbridge, Ireland.

She is the author of the verse novel “Tishe...Piano”, the film adaptation of which was shortlisted for the Leuven International Short Film Festival in 2013, the Miami Indie Wise Festival in 2018, XpoNorth Festival in 2018, and received ‘The Best Narrative Short’ Award at the 2015 International Film Festival behalf Savva Morozov in Moscow. Marina holds Master’s degrees in Public Relations and Transmedia. Currently, she is Communications Officer at Victim Support Europe (Brussels) and working on her practice-based PhD in Arts at Luca School of Arts (KULeuven).

Sara Maino (b. Arco, Italy, 1970) is an Italian audio-visual artist, poet and performer, film and theatre director. She studied Literature and Philosophy at the University of Trento and undertook a non-formal education in theatre, cinema, art. She’s studying Philosophy at the University of Trento.  

Published internationally in anthologies and journals (Three Rooms Press “Maintenant”), she’s the co-author of books on poetry and on ethnographic’s research. Her poetry was published onto a CD in 2006. She’s the author of theatrical shows and international multimedia poetry performances. She has performed at literary festivals, events, to art galleries in London, Norway, Greece, Lithuania, Bosnia, Italy, Ireland, in the Netherlands, Bulgaria, South Korea. She has also undertaken theatrical tours in Brazil and India (2000-2007). 

She worked for Rai Radiotelevisione Italiana as an author and multimedia expert. As a filmmaker she filmed documentary and art films in Sardinia, Georgia, Kosovo, Bosnia, Belgium and USA.  The best photography prize was awarded for her poetic short film "Elegia marina" at the International Film Festival RNAB in Brazil in 2021. The first prize was given to her short film "cuoredilago" at the Lucca Video Contest in 2011. She won the art national contest “Brocche 2.0” with her sound installation in 2013. Her audiovisual installations, films and paintings have been shown in solo and collective exhibitions in Italian museums and galleries, in Germany and Belgium.
