Samara Huggins is a textile artist, poet and performer from Mableton, Georgia. Born to Guyanese immigrants, she uses her art and writing practices to focus on subjects of transience, lineage, identity and community. Recent work examines climate change and the role of the artist as a social activist. After receiving the title of 2017 Poetry Out Loud National Champion, she earned her B.F.A. in Fashion Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. She will receive her M.F.A in Writing from School of the Art Institute Chicago in 2023.
