Neeli Cherkovski was born in Los Angeles and attended Los Angeles State College (now Cal State Los Angeles). He is the author of many books of poetry, including Animal (1996), Leaning Against Time (2005), From the Canyon Outward (2009), and The Crow and I (2015). He is the co-editor of Anthology of L.A. Poets (with Charles Bukowski) and Cross-Strokes: Poetry between Los Angeles and San Francisco (with Bill Mohr). He has also published bilingual editions in Austria, Mexico, and Italy. A facsimile edition of one of his notebooks was published by Viviani Edizione in Verona, Italy. Cherkovski also wrote biographies of Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Charles Bukowski, as well as the critical memoir Whitman’s Wild Children (1988). His papers are held at the Bancroft Library, University of California, Berkeley. Cherkovski received the 2017 Jack Mueller Poetry Prize awarded at the Jack Mueller Festival in Fruita, Colorado. Poet /collagist Steve Dalachinsky was born in Brooklyn after the last big war and has managed to survive lots of little wars. He is the recipient of an Acker Award for poetry and in 2014 was honored with a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Minister of Culture. His latest book is Where Night and Day Become One: The French Poems (great weather for MEDIA, 2018). Other books include The Final Nite (Ugly Duckling Presse) Fool’s Gold (Feral Press), A Superintendent’s Eyes (Unbearable Books /Autonomedia), Flying Home (Paris Lit Up) in collaboration with German visual artist Sig Bang Schmidt, and Frozen Heatwave (Luna Bisonte Prods) in collaboration with Yuko Otomo. Dalachinsky’s audio CDs include The Fallout of Dreams with Dave Liebman and Richie Beirach and ec(H)o-system with the French art-rock group, The Snobs. His most recent release is With Shelter Gone, a limited-edition vinyl LP on the German label Psych.KG.
